Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a fast-paced Med/Surg unit specializing in orthopedic and post-op surgical patients, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and an AL or compact RN license.

Job Details

• Located in Birmingham, AL at a 595-bed Joint Commission-accredited comprehensive healthcare facility,

• Med/Surg unit (4 West) with a focus on orthopedic and post-op surgical patients,

• 30-bed unit with a 6:1 patient-to-nurse ratio,

• Day shift: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM,

• Every other weekend required,

• 13-week contract,

• Floating required on an as-needed basis,

• No on-call requirements,

• Charting via Cerner EMR,

• Bedside shift report is required,

Job Requirements

• Active AL RN license or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration - license must not be expired or expiring within the same month as the start date; no hits on RN license accepted,

• Current AHA BLS and AHA NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required - American Red Cross certifications are not accepted; certifications must not be expired or expiring within 30 days of start date,

• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in Med/Surg, orthopedics, or post-op surgical care,

• SSN and DOB required for consideration,

• Skills checklist for the specific specialty area required,

• Unit is described as very fast-paced; candidates should be quick-thinking, confident, and able to manage a heavy surgical caseload,

• Strong time management, attendance, and a positive work ethic are emphasized by the hiring team,

• Navy scrubs required,

• Artificial nails of any kind (gel, dipped, wrapped, acrylic, etc.) are not permitted,

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for this travel position,
