4 Surgical is an 18‑bed unit specializing in patients undergoing orthopedic, bariatric, and neurosurgical procedures. The hospital is the leading joint‑replacement procedural area within UAB St. Vincent’s, with world‑class surgeons who use cutting‑edge technology.

Our fast‑paced unit specializes in quick turnarounds following surgery, with dedicated nurses and physicians providing care guided by excellence and centered on patient needs.

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans, and record and communicate patient condition.
• Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well‑coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient’s discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire. Accepted providers:
  American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
• Diploma from an accredited school of nursing and professional licensure at time of hire. One year of nursing experience required.
• No additional preferences.
