About the Role

Southlake Orthopaedics is looking for a skilled, patient-focused Nurse Practitioner to join our team. We work with top-notch providers and are proud of the care we deliver across orthopaedics, sports medicine, and spine. In this role you'll assess, diagnose, treat, and educate patients while working side by side with our physicians and clinical staff in a true team approach to care.

Typical hours are Monday–Friday, roughly 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., though exact hours may vary.

What You'll Do
  • Assess patient status through health histories, chart reviews, and physical examinations, accounting for risk factors, family history, and psychosocial and cultural factors.
  • Order and perform appropriate laboratory, diagnostic, and screening tests, consulting with physicians and other clinicians as needed.
  • Integrate clinical data to determine diagnoses and develop therapeutic plans, including identification of health risks.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, prescribing and dispensing medications and injections in compliance with practice guidelines and state law; handle minor lacerations.
  • Educate patients and families on medications, treatments, health promotion, and illness prevention, and connect them with appropriate community resources.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record, including exam and test results, diagnoses, medications, and treatment.
  • Collaborate with physicians to manage patients' acute and long-term needs, providing continuity of care between visits and triaging patient calls and messages.
  • Make appropriate referrals and coordinate with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in peer and chart reviews, staff education, clinical guideline development, and quality assurance activities.
  • Promote patient advocacy and uphold all patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education: BSN required, MSN preferred. Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program with certification as a practitioner (general or specialized).

Experience: Minimum of three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting, plus two years of nurse practitioner experience.

Licensure & Certification:

  • Current state Registered Nurse license
  • Current state license as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority
  • Current CPR certification

Skills & Abilities: Strong clinical judgment and knowledge of advanced nursing practice, pharmacology, and diagnostics; excellent oral and written communication; effective case and time management; proficiency with EHR systems and Microsoft Office; and the ability to build effective working relationships with patients, staff, and the public.

  • Competitive base salary paid semi-monthly

Work Environment &

Physical Requirements

Work takes place in a combination of exam rooms and medical offices, with frequent exposure to conditions common to a clinic environment. Must be able to perform the physical tasks normally associated with the role, including standing and walking for extended periods, lifting and carrying items up to 10 lbs. (occasionally up to 100 lbs.), and working under stress in time-sensitive situations.

Vision and hearing within normal range required.
