LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Highlands Orthopedic Surgery Unit - Weekends - PM

Position Overview

Pay range: $22.90 - $37.25 / hour

Sign-on bonus: $5,000 (new hire sign-on bonus may be available, full‑time only)

Shifts:

full‑time PM

Schedules: 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.

• Provide nursing care to patients based on the nursing process, UAB Hospital Standards of Nursing Care, and UAB Hospital policies and procedures while ensuring quality of care.
• Orient patients and family members to the surrounding environment, acting as a patient advocate.
• Collect patient assessment data and notify RN of potential problems.
• Evaluate patient response to care, report findings to RN, and document delivery of patient care.
• Effectively respond to emergency situations.
• Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills, meet patient educational needs, and serve as a role model to other members of the patient care team.

• Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing Program or equivalent.
• Currently licensed or licensed by endorsement as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) required or to be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required depending on unit/department.
