Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Shifts:
12 hr - AM shifts - Weekends Only (5am-5pm). APP weekend schedules are defined as either Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. - Schedule:
This position is a 1.0 salaried FTE that works a weekend schedule of three (3), 12-hour shifts per week, with the remaining four (4) hours per week dedicated to administrative activities. This team offers a rotating holiday schedule. - Commitment: APPs accepting a weekend position agree to a one (1) year commitment in the weekend position. Any exception must be approved by APP Leadership.
- Weekend Only Stipend Pay: APPs working exclusively weekend days will be eligible for a $1,666.67 stipend ($20,000 when annualized), paid monthly.

Shifts:
APPs holding a weekend position are eligible for extra shift pay if extra shifts are worked outside of their required schedule. Extra shifts worked during the week will be paid at the regular extra shift rate ($80/hr- AM and $90/hr - PM)
- CME Allowance:
Full-time APPs at UAB Medicine receive a $2,000 allowance per year for continuing medical education (CME) opportunities.
To provide medical care and treatment within established scope of practice to surgical patients as assigned by and under the direction of the collaborating physician (Section 610-X-5 of the Alabama Board of Nursing Administrative Code) or under supervision of a Board-Certified Physician (Section 540-X-7 of the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners Administrative Code). The collaborating physician shall be available for direct communication for consultation and referral or arrange for the same medical coverage by a physician who is pre-approved by the State Board of Medical Examiners in the same manner as the collaborating physician of record.
To coordinate plan of care, discharge and specialty referrals as appropriate to meet the age specific needs of the patient. To plan and coordinate health care education for patient, family and other health care providers as needed. To perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments. To interpret, analyze and evaluate patient’s medical record and social data. To perform and/or assist the physician with procedures per collaborative agreement.
To coordinate and participate in performance improvement activities.
