Position Overview

The Division of Hematology/Oncology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a full‑time day shift position. The role involves evaluation and management of acutely ill hematology patients and performing procedures within the specialty scope of practice. Candidates should have prior experience in Hematology/Oncology or Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) and knowledge of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and cellular therapies (e.g., CAR‑T), as well as management of related treatment complications.

Eligibility

Applicants may be Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult Primary Nurse Practitioner, Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical care and treatment within the scope of practice under collaborating physician or board‑certified physician supervision.
  • Coordinate plan of care, discharge, and specialty referrals to meet patient needs.
  • Plan and coordinate health care education for patients, families, and other health care providers.
  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments.
  • Interpret, analyze, and evaluate patient medical records and social data.
  • Assist physicians with procedures as per collaborative agreement.
  • Coordinate and participate in performance improvement activities.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Based on thorough physical and psychosocial assessments, formulate and implement comprehensive care plans focused on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease, including education, prescriptions, labs, diagnostics, and therapies.
  • Ensure complete documentation of patient assessments, care plans, and care provided.
  • Order and interpret laboratory and other diagnostic tests.
  • Maintain records and reports as required by regulatory agencies and The Joint Commission, and participate in performance and quality improvement activities.
  • Assist in the coordination of research protocols, serve as a patient advocate and liaison between patients and other providers.
  • Provide assistance in orientation and training of new clinical personnel, conduct workshops, in‑service training, and distribute educational materials for patients and staff.
  • Serve as expert clinical resource to staff and patients in the specialty area.
  • Provide a safe environment for patients and others.
  • Demonstrate a responsible attitude toward continued professional growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Full‑time, Benefited
    • Shift: 8hr day shift, Monday‑Friday (no weekends, holidays, or call)
    • CME Allowance: $2,000 annual CME allowance for full‑time benefited APPs, usable for recertification, applicable fees, CME courses, etc. after the new employee’s start date.
