Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri, 8:00a.m. – 1:00p.m.
No weekends, holidays, or call
CME allowance: $2,000 annually for part‑time benefited and full‑time benefited APPs, usable for recertification, fees, CMEs, etc.

UAB Medicine Endocrine Surgery is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their team. APPs will perform health history and physical (H&P), order labs, tests, and imaging for parathyroid, thyroid, and adrenal problems. APPs will practice independently but also help cover physician clinics when needed. They will participate in Tumor Board discussions, staff meetings, and endocrine surgery meetings. New graduates and experienced APPs with the appropriate board certification are welcome to apply.

General

Responsibilities

Provide medical care and treatment for surgical patients within the established scope of practice under the direction of a collaborating physician or board‑certified physician.
Coordinate plan of care, discharge, and specialty referrals as appropriate.
Plan and coordinate health education for patients, families, and other health care providers.
Perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments.
Interpret, analyze, and evaluate patient’s medical records and social data.
Assist the physician with procedures per collaborative agreement.
Coordinate and participate in performance improvement activities.

Key

Duties & Responsibilities

Based on thorough physical and psychosocial patient assessments, formulate and implement comprehensive patient care plans focused on surgical interventions. Plans include patient and family education, prescriptions, additional lab and diagnostic testing, and therapies.

Ensure complete documentation of patient assessments, patient care plans, and care provided.

Order and interpret laboratory and other diagnostic tests for the patient.

Maintain records and reports as required by regulatory agencies and The Joint Commission (TJC). May coordinate and/or participate in performance and quality improvement activities.

Assist in the coordination of research protocols, serving as a patient advocate and liaison between the patient and other health care providers.

Provide assistance in orientation and/or training of new clinical personnel as needed. Conduct workshops, in‑service training, and distribute educational materials for patients and staff.

Serve as the expert clinical resource to clinical staff and patients in the area of specialty.

Provide a safe environment for patients and others.

Demonstrate a responsible attitude toward continued professional growth.

Perform other duties as assigned.
