In Med Surg 10 Harbert at Main Campus Harbert Tower

Work schedule will be Full-time on the Evening Night Shift, (3) 12 hour shifts per week 6:45 pm
-7:15 am, every other weekend.

Summary

Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to an assigned group of patients in accordance with prescribed hospital policy under the direction of the R.N.

Other information
  • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate with parents and families; must demonstrate knowledge of medical equipment required in specific units; must have ability to work with patient charts, nursing care plans and computers.
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
Experience
  • 2 years experience preferred; experience in pediatrics preferred.
Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
  • BCLS certified.
  • Current Alabama LPN Licensure required.
Credentials with Equivalent Qualifications

Essential:

  • * Licensed Practical Nurse AL Only or any of the following equivalent qualifications below:
  • - Licensed Practical Nurse AL NLC Multi State
  • - Licensed Practical Nurse Non-AL NLC Multi State

Nonessential:

  • * Basic Life Support
Education with Equivalent Qualifications

Essential:

  • * Associate of Science Nursing in Nursing
Experience with Equivalent Qualifications

Nonessential:

  • * 2 Years job experience as Staff Level with specialization in the field of Nursing General

10 Harbert is a 24 bed medical-surgical unit with a focus on the following specialties:
Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, and Rehabilitation services. Eight beds are designated for the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. We provide patient/family-focused, quality-driven nursing services for pediatric patients ranging from neonates to adolescents. Our unit has a strong focus on patient and family education. This focus allows the nurses working on our unit the opportunity to grow personally and professionally. Our staff prides themselves on working as a team with our main goal being to provide not only quality patient care but excellent customer service as well.

The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) is an 8-bed mini-unit located on 10H. The EMU is designated Level 4 by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC). Level 4 is the highest level for units that specialize in the care of epilepsy patients including seizure evaluation through a treatment plan. The Epileptologist, Nurse Practitioners, and Technicians are highly trained specialists in the evaluation and treatment of epilepsy through GRID and stereoelectroencephalographical placement and surgery.

Schedule:

(3) 12 hour shifts per week 6:45 pm
-7:15 am, every other weekend, Evening-Night Shift, 12-Hour Shifts
