Full‑time, benefited. 12‑hour rotating / blended shifts, 5am‑5pm or 5pm‑5am (14–16 shifts per month). Weekends and holidays are required.
CompensationA $10,000 sign‑on bonus may be available.
- PM differential: $120 per night shift
- Weekend differential: $50 per AM weekend shift
- Full‑time advanced practice provider (APP) position is eligible for benefits.
- Full‑time APPs at UAB Medicine receive a $2,000 allowance per year for continuing medical education (CME) opportunities.
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) position for the Anesthesia Critical Care team in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NICU) includes providing inpatient critical care services and participating within an interdisciplinary team serving as a consult/co‑managing service for Neurosurgery & Neurology patients admitted to the NICU. Each APP utilizes the skill set of performing physical exams, obtaining history and physical assessments, completing daily progress notes, structuring and facilitating medical management of critically ill patients, performing approved routine bedside procedures, and participating in multidisciplinary rounds and coordinating care with admitting and consulting services.
The Neuroscience ICU (NICU) is a 36‑bed intensive care unit providing treatment and care to neurosurgery, neurology, stroke, and trauma patients at a LevelI Trauma Center. UAB Neurology and Neurosurgery is consistently ranked among the top 50 programs nationally. UAB is also Alabama’s first Comprehensive Stroke Center.
