Director of Nursing DON

Job Summary:

Highlands Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, a state-of-the-art healthcare facility in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Director of Nursing DON to lead our nursing team in providing exceptional patient care. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our nursing department, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and fostering a culture of excellence and compassion.

About the Role:

As a Director of Nursing DON
, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing a team of nurses and licensed professionals to deliver high-quality patient care

  • Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards

  • Collaborating with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans

  • Monitoring and analyzing departmental performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions

  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards

  • Recruiting, hiring, and training nursing staff to meet patient care needs

  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of patient care, treatments, and outcomes

  • Participating in budget development, cost containment, and quality improvement initiatives

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Current RN License and Active Certification as a Nursing Administrator (DON)

  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role

  • Strong clinical and interpersonal skills, with excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines

  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and healthcare software systems
