Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Mental Health

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Mental Health, works under the direction of the Mental Health Registered Nurse/Mental Health Assistant Nurse Manager and Mental Health Management and reports to the Mental Health Assistant Nurse Manager. The LPN is responsible for observing, recording, and reporting changes in the veteran's mental, emotional, and physical well-being as well as assisting in coordinating care that tailored to a veteran's needs and collaborating with appropriate health providers to help improve veterans access to mental health services.

The LPN serves in a generalist role to provide clinical support to the mental health interdisciplinary team. The incumbent provides a wide range of clinical and technical services to the veteran under general supervision of the Mental Health Nurse Manager. The duties include:

• Checking in the patients
• Resolving appropriate clinical reminders
• Patient education
• Identifying high risk veterans
• Providing medications
• Providing intramuscular injections
• Phlebotomy duties
• Assisting in emergent situations, disruptive behavior veterans/crisis.
• Carry out assigned patient care based on the patents' conditions; to use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments; and to accurately recognize, report and record relevant patient information.
• Provides primary nursing and mental health care and disease screening for adults and elderly patients.
• Identify and respond to the patent's needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care and patient/family education.
• Administers medication accurately and promptly under the general supervision of the RN or LIP.
• Performs blood collection utilizing proper selection and use of equipment/supplies, and collection techniques.
• Performs other clinical/administrative duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 07:00am - 15:30pm or 07:30am - 16:00pm

Pay:
Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.

Parental Leave:
After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
