Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Occupational Health & Safety

Under the direction of the area EHS Coordinator, the Safety Representative assists the Safety team with company safety/health, risk management, and employee development programs.
Responsibilities- Organize and maintain files/records for all incidents and injuries, including general liability, auto liability, workers’ compensation, and other applicable claims.
- Enter incident and safety audit information into the system as needed.
- Assist with safety-related claims and with employees’ health hazard exposures using established industrial hygiene techniques.
- Provide PPE and technical support as needed.
- Maintain area/programs of responsibility to keep within economical budget demands.
- Compile company safety results and data as directed by the Safety Team.
- Coach operations managers and supervisors on the performance management process, including implementation, development, and facilitation.
- Develop creative communications methods to ensure distribution and institutionalization of best practices.
- Assist with MSHA compliance as needed.

QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education & Experience- 1–2 years of construction and/or industrial safety experience.
- Thorough understanding of, and ability to enforce, all federal, state, local, and company regulations.
- Will eventually need to become New-Miner Certified under Part 46 of the 30 Code of Federal Regulations.
Must have a valid state‑issued driver’s license.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements- Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement essential corrective measures.
- Solid training and teaching experience.
- High ethical standards.
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
- Ability to orchestrate multiple activities simultaneously to accomplish a goal.
- Ability to use resources effectively and efficiently and arrange information in a useful manner.
- Strong voice in promoting the company’s safety slogan.
- Familiarity with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices and work-zone traffic control.
- Successful completion of OSHA 10 or 30 hour Construction and General Industry courses.
- MSHA Part 46 and Part 56/58 Safety and Health Standards for surface metal and non‑metal mines.
- First Aid CPR certification.
- Knowledge of workers' compensation claim handling.
- Communicate with others by telephone and in person.
- Utilize a computer and iPad for word processing, e‑mail communication, and preparation of documents and presentations.
- Knowledge in MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Intermittent climbing, bending, squatting, and kneeling are required.
- Periodic, extensive walking and standing are required.
- Must also be able to drive a vehicle and walk uneven terrain.
- May be required to lift objects up to 40 lbs periodically.
- May be exposed to extreme hot, cold, and wet weather.
