The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for supporting and monitoring the Food Safety and Quality Management Systems at the plant level to ensure materials and products meet established food safety, quality, regulatory, and customer requirements. This role performs daily quality assurance activities while promoting a strong food safety and quality culture throughout the facility.
- Perform daily Quality Assurance activities to support compliance with food safety and quality programs
- Support needs of the company’s Quality Management Systems
- Monitor production and packaging operations to ensure products meet established quality standards
- Verify correct products, labels, lot codes, packaging materials, and quantities are being packaged
- Conduct routine line checks and inspections throughout production runs
- Identify and report quality issues, packaging errors, or non-conforming products to Plant Leadership & QA
- Assist with product holds, investigations, and corrective actions when needed
- Promote and reinforce food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance throughout the facility
- Perform product and environmental sampling and testing while maintaining proper logs and records
- Inspect incoming materials, packaging, in-process products, and finished goods for specification compliance
- Assist with training employees on GMPs, food safety procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Familiarity with quality assurance and compliance principles
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply standard operating procedures, specifications, and regulatory requirements
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Preferred
- Experience with in manufacturing environments, with food or beverage industry preferred
- Familiarity with SQF, HACCP, or other food safety systems
- Familiarity with GMPs, preventative controls, sanitation programs, and food safety regulations
- PCQI certification or ability to obtain company-sponsored certification
- HACCP certification or ability to obtain company-sponsored certification
- Strong organizational and documentation management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to identify quality concerns and support corrective action initiatives
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Strong attention to detail and regulatory compliance awareness
- High level of professionalism, accountability, and ethical conduct
- Commitment to food safety, product quality, and continuous improvement
- Food manufacturing and production environment
- Moderate noise level with required use of hearing protection in designated areas
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and computer use
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 40 pounds
