As a Quality Supervisor at Atlas Tube in Birmingham, AL, you will provide leadership and oversight for the Quality Department while partnering closely with operations to ensure products consistently meet customer and industry quality standards.
What You’ll Do- Lead the Quality team in support of the Quality Manager.
- Provide coverage for the Quality Manager and Quality Leads during planned absences.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained, calibrated, and operating properly.
- Support and provide backup for inline non‑destructive testing (NDT) operations.
- Flex across all shifts as business needs require, with primary responsibility on the day shift.
- Ensure required inspections are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Review and disposition nonconforming material and coordinate rework activities.
- Assist in maintaining and improving the Quality Management System.
- Serve as the primary liaison with customers regarding product quality issues and technical information.
- Partner with the Sales team to provide technical product support and quality‑related guidance.
- Train and mentor Quality personnel on inspection procedures, quality standards, and departmental processes.
- Assist the Shipping Department with inspections as needed.
- Travel to support business and customer requirements as necessary.
- Lead and promote safe work practices in accordance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5years of experience in a Quality role, including supervisory or leadership responsibilities.
- Manufacturing experience, preferably within the steel, pipe, or tube industry.
- Strong understanding of product specifications, engineering drawings, and industry standards.
- Experience with ISO
9001 Quality Management Systems. - Experience with Non‑Destructive Examination (NDE) processes and API products preferred.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and quality management software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities with the ability to coach and develop team members.
- Detail‑oriented with exceptional organizational and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Professional, dependable, and committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Walk throughout a manufacturing facility for extended periods.
- Stand, bend, climb, and inspect production operations as needed.
- Occasionally lift and move materials or testing equipment.
- Work safely in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving equipment, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Travel as business needs require.
