The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a part-time Kitchen Assistant for the Birmingham Area Command, located in Birmingham, AL.

Pay: $10/hr

We have two positions available!

Schedule:

(1) Monday - Friday 6:30am - 1pm with a one-hour lunch break (29 hours a week) (Must have weekend availability)

• Cleans kitchen equipment and washes dishes; sweeps, mops, and waxes floors.
• Assists in serving meals ensuring appropriate proportions are provided.
• Stocks foods, beverages, and supplies in an orderly and safe manner.
• Empties trash cans. Pay starts at $10/hr.

• One year experience working in a kitchen, preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Knowledge of cleaning practices, methods, and techniques.
• Ability to assist in the preparation and presentation of meals.
• Ability to wash dishes and kitchen appliances.
• Ability to clean the kitchen and dining area.
• Works is performed in a normal kitchen environment where there may be limited physical discomforts associated with working around hot stoves/ovens or cold freezers. Duties are usually performed by frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting.
