Responsibilities
- Assist with store functions and day‑to‑day store activities.
- Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address any questions or concerns they may have.
- Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom and sales floor, ensuring seasonal areas are maintained.
- Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
- Process all corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other store‑related communications.
- Maintain promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
- Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and perform record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts).
- Implement loss‑prevention measures and uphold store standards.
- Maintain a well‑stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
- Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
- Adhere to policies and procedures, including safety guidelines, and ensure all associates follow them.
- Support Store Manager in supervising, training, and developing store associates.
- Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment while maintaining professional and friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
- Maintain store cleanliness, including bathrooms, floors, trash, and overall presentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.*
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives such as merchandise schematics.
- Store‑management experience in retail, grocery, or drug‑store environment (preferred).
- Must be able to lift up to 55lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
- Ability to work in a high‑energy, team environment.
- Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Knowledge of alcohol/tobacco licensing requirements may be required by local jurisdiction for stores that sell such products; managers may need to provide background information to obtain a license.
