Responsibilities

• Providing exceptional service to each customer
• Accepting payments and providing receipts
• Bagging purchased goods
• Managing transactions and ensuring accurate pricing
• Greeting customers upon entering and leaving the premises
• Managing transactions using a cash register
• Balancing the cash register
• Scanning goods and ensuring pricing and quantities are accurate
• Accepting payments in cash, credit, vouchers, automatic debits, or checks
• Providing change and receipts
• Issuing coupons, vouchers, stamps and gift cards
• Processing returns, refunds, and resolving customer complaints
• Bagging and wrapping purchased goods for safe transport
• Upselling and cross-selling when appropriate
• Maintaining a clean and orderly checkout area
• Completing general duties such as mopping floors, emptying trash cans, filling candy/gum racks, and cleaning restrooms and shelves

• High school degree or equivalent
• Experience with POS systems and cash registers
• Basic computer knowledge
• Good math skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work nights, holidays, and weekends
• Ability to effectively resolve complaints
• Physical ability to carry 50 lbs for a length of 20 feet
• Physical ability to push 50 lbs
• Physical ability to pull 50 lbs
• Physical ability to bend, squat, climb, and lift objects overhead
• Physical ability to tolerate temperature differentials
