Construction Analyst 2

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Construction Analyst 2 (CANA2) to support Alabama Power Company's Contract Services Department. This role provides advanced analytical and administrative support for a portfolio of Capital and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) construction projects, including Contract Services, Vegetation Management, Transmission Lines, and Substation Construction.

The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in construction administration, project analytics, invoice auditing, budget tracking, reporting, contract support, and cross-functional coordination. This individual will work closely with project managers, contractors, inspectors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure financial accuracy, project compliance, and timely reporting while contributing to continuous process improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced analytical and administrative support for Contract Services, Vegetation, Transmission Lines, and Substation Construction teams.
  • Collect, organize, validate, and analyze project data related to project progress, production, resource allocation, schedules, and expenditures.
  • Prepare and maintain project reports, dashboards, KPIs, visualizations, and management presentations.
  • Analyze project performance metrics and provide actionable insights and recommendations to project leadership.
  • Participate in project reviews, production reporting, and status meetings.
  • Coordinate project meetings, document meeting minutes, action items, and follow-up activities.
  • Support project managers with day-to-day project coordination and construction administration.
  • Assist in preparing and managing project budgets for Capital and O&M construction projects.
  • Track project expenditures and perform detailed budget monitoring and variance analysis.
  • Prepare monthly accruals for Contract Services programs.
  • Monitor project costs and identify budget variances, providing recommendations to improve financial performance.
  • Support forecasting and financial reporting activities.
  • Perform invoice auditing, reconciliation, and validation for Contract Services projects.
  • Review contractor invoices to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate with contractors and field inspectors to obtain appropriate supporting documentation for invoice approval.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and assist with payment processing activities.
  • Support contract administration and documentation management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist management with contract compliance, documentation, and administrative activities.
  • Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support project execution.
  • Evaluate contractor and vendor performance through project metrics and reporting.
  • Provide analytical input supporting supplier management and procurement decisions.
  • Maintain strong working relationships across cross-functional teams.
  • Organize and maintain construction-related documentation and project records.
  • Ensure data integrity, documentation accuracy, and compliance with company standards.
  • Generate recurring and ad hoc reports for leadership using Excel and reporting tools.
  • Support audit readiness by maintaining complete and organized project documentation.
  • Research industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in construction analytics.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, project controls, operational efficiency, and data accuracy.
  • Support implementation of process improvements and standardization initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Construction project management and/or construction administrative experience required.
  • Experience supporting Capital and/or Operations & Maintenance (O&M) construction projects.
  • Experience with invoice auditing, invoice reconciliation, contract administration, or project financial support.
  • Experience tracking project costs, budgets, accruals, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collect, interpret, analyze, and present construction project data.
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
