Job OverviewDistrict Sales Manager – Birmingham, AL. The District Sales Manager is responsible for carrying out sales objectives; implementing sales and account strategies as set out by management; achieving results in a matrix sales organization; discovery, development and realization of project opportunities in the district; soliciting new customers/contractors to increase demand for products; cultivating long-term relationships with key account decision makers; and maintaining sales reports and forecasts.
The role includes travel, CRM management, and participation in corporate training objectives as part of professional development.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of sales and account strategies; develop and implement Key Account Plans for strategic accounts within the territory to exceed revenue retention/growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction/loyalty.
- Increase demand for company products by discovery, development and realization of project opportunities; prospect/solicit new business partners; maintain a cycle of scheduled calls and visits to customers based on CRM segmentation; grow the customer/contractor database for the territory.
- Cultivate long-term relationships with key account decision makers; understand the organization structure and buying influences of assigned accounts.
- Conduct sales calls and deliver professional presentations to diverse audiences (e.g., cross-functional teams, architects, distributors, builders, developers, facility engineers, plant managers, code officials, educators, contractors) using appropriate resources.
- Advance market growth by understanding, adapting and communicating the value proposition for each constituent group.
- Own and manage annual sales plans and strategic account plans to achieve market penetration across segments/territories for product lines.
- Collaborate with local independent manufacturers representatives as directed to support the residential sales management team.
- Travel to provide ongoing training and support as requested.
- Receive leads from trade shows or other sources; prioritize leads and follow up on opportunities.
- Provide support to cross-functional teams to ensure client deliveries are executed as agreed. Contribute to adoption of EDI and VMI by distributors within the district and regions.
- Maintain monthly sales reports and business metrics; identify opportunities; report on trends and new products.
- Provide weekly reporting and updates to management as requested.
- Prepare reports on field activity, sales, competitors and forecasts (daily/weekly/monthly).
- Track travel and incidental expenses; submit expense reports in a timely manner within budget parameters.
- Maintain, update, and utilize CRM/SAP Mobile Sales daily activity calendars to track information, document opportunities in the sales funnel, record sales call activities, link customers, and keep calendars up to date.
- Attend meetings as required and/or assigned.
- Travel up to 80% of the time (mostly local travel).
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, PowerPoint, SAP and CRM
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
