Job Overview

District Sales Manager – Birmingham, AL. The District Sales Manager is responsible for carrying out sales objectives; implementing sales and account strategies as set out by management; achieving results in a matrix sales organization; discovery, development and realization of project opportunities in the district; soliciting new customers/contractors to increase demand for products; cultivating long-term relationships with key account decision makers; and maintaining sales reports and forecasts.

The role includes travel, CRM management, and participation in corporate training objectives as part of professional development.

What You ll Do Sales Initiatives
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of sales and account strategies; develop and implement Key Account Plans for strategic accounts within the territory to exceed revenue retention/growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction/loyalty.
  • Increase demand for company products by discovery, development and realization of project opportunities; prospect/solicit new business partners; maintain a cycle of scheduled calls and visits to customers based on CRM segmentation; grow the customer/contractor database for the territory.
  • Cultivate long-term relationships with key account decision makers; understand the organization structure and buying influences of assigned accounts.
  • Conduct sales calls and deliver professional presentations to diverse audiences (e.g., cross-functional teams, architects, distributors, builders, developers, facility engineers, plant managers, code officials, educators, contractors) using appropriate resources.
  • Advance market growth by understanding, adapting and communicating the value proposition for each constituent group.
  • Own and manage annual sales plans and strategic account plans to achieve market penetration across segments/territories for product lines.
  • Collaborate with local independent manufacturers  representatives as directed to support the residential sales management team.
  • Travel to provide ongoing training and support as requested.
  • Receive leads from trade shows or other sources; prioritize leads and follow up on opportunities.
  • Provide support to cross-functional teams to ensure client deliveries are executed as agreed. Contribute to adoption of EDI and VMI by distributors within the district and regions.
Reporting
  • Maintain monthly sales reports and business metrics; identify opportunities; report on trends and new products.
  • Provide weekly reporting and updates to management as requested.
  • Prepare reports on field activity, sales, competitors and forecasts (daily/weekly/monthly).
  • Track travel and incidental expenses; submit expense reports in a timely manner within budget parameters.
  • Maintain, update, and utilize CRM/SAP Mobile Sales daily activity calendars to track information, document opportunities in the sales funnel, record sales call activities, link customers, and keep calendars up to date.

  • Attend meetings as required and/or assigned.

  • Travel up to 80% of the time (mostly local travel).
