United Way of Central Alabama’s Loaned Executive Program is an exciting 13‑week opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in sales, public speaking, fundraising, and relationship management while helping raise millions of dollars to support local nonprofits. Working alongside business and community leaders, Loaned Executives develop valuable career skills, build lasting connections, and play a key role in improving lives across Central Alabama.

Position

Summary

Are you looking to participate in a leadership development program or improve your sales and fundraising skills? Interested in becoming invested in the non‑profit network in Central Alabama? A recent college graduate or retiree? Interested in making a professional transition? If so, United Way of Central Alabama’s Loaned Executive Program might be the ideal position for you.

Loaned Executives support the fundraising efforts of United Way of Central Alabama’s Annual Campaign. This includes working with an assigned group of companies to plan, organize, implement, and complete their fundraising campaigns. Loaned Executives begin the Annual Campaign in a robust two‑week preparation program, with workshops focused on public speaking, sales skills, Myers‑Briggs personality assessments, fundraising strategies, community needs, and United Way’s fundamental work.

Success is measured by an increase in each company’s participation in their United Way campaign, including employee engagement and overall funds raised.

Responsibilities
  • Meet with assigned company contacts to plan, organize, and schedule United Way meetings with the company’s employees
  • Develop and deliver brief speaking presentation to employee groups about United Way’s work in the community
  • Attend weekly Loaned Executive team meetings and sales luncheons
  • Support company campaigns by delivering campaign collateral; arranging non‑profit speaking engagements, agency tours, and volunteer opportunities; and ensuring the company’s campaign needs are met
  • Solicit small businesses for corporate contributions
  • Keep written records of all company contacts, campaign activities, and tips for success for future campaigns
  • Meet with Loaned Executive Manager weekly to review progress and develop ideas for success
  • Support other Loaned Executives in their fundraising efforts
  • Maintain a positive, enthusiastic, and winning attitude
Training and Leadership Development Opportunities

UWCA’s Loaned Executive Program is one of the top training and development programs among United Way’s across the country. The Program is designed to build professional skills, such as sales, public speaking, and account management through a fast‑paced, exciting 13‑week fundraising campaign that raises millions of dollars for the Central Alabama non‑profit network. Qualifications

Knowledge and

Skills:

Capable of communicating effectively and organizing/coordinating projects. Quick learner. Ability to motivate self and others. Public speaking required.

Education/

Experience:

College graduate preferred. Sales, volunteer and fundraising experience helpful but not required.

Required: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and proof of automobile insurance. Must commit to completing the 13‑week program (August 24 – November 20, 2026).

Working Conditions: In‑office, sales and relationship calls, local travel, Monday‑Friday 8:00‑4:30 with possible evening and early morning hours.
