Auction Sales Coordinator – Birmingham, AL
Altec’s auction subsidiary, JJ Kane, is seeking an Auction Sales Coordinator to support sales and operational processes, advocate for customers, and act as a liaison between our direct sales force, customers, and auction operations teams. The role will work closely with a defined group of outside sales associates to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction and enable the outside sales team to focus on acquiring new consignors.
MajorResponsibilities
- Provide quotes and pricing, enter and track consignments, contract shipping, assist buyers with delivery, and communicate credit terms.
- Respond immediately to customer requests for information on auction day.
- Serve as customer service representative for inquiries leading up to each auction.
- Coordinate with Accounts Receivable on invoice and credit terms and resolve collection issues.
- Accurately cost and complete all steps required for quoting each product, ensuring quotes meet corporate format and content standards.
- Capture and communicate customer requirements efficiently.
- Process orders per corporate procedures in a complete and accurate manner while meeting projected time parameters.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of commonly sold products, customers, administrative and production processes.
- Handle operational issues such as pictures, specifications, descriptions, and conditions.
- Coordinate decommissioning, cleanup, and approved maintenance for consignments from the region.
- Assist with data acquisition for items to be sold in the region.
- Approve items for inclusion in the auction and on the website.
- Enter fees for items sold in the Timed Auction.
- Review invoices for accuracy and deliver them to customers.
- Arrange pickup of consignments with the transportation coordinator.
- Use PO system to enter all reimbursable costs into the database.
- Review payout information to ensure all costs are charged back to each consignment.
- Demonstrate consistent progress toward proficiency in training areas as defined in the training objectives document.
- Attend classroom and online training sessions to enhance skills and build knowledge.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree (required). Preferred majors:
Sales, Business. - Availability for overnight travel on rare occasions.
- Proficiency in math and computers, specifically Microsoft software.
- Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions.
- Strong communication skills.
- Self‑management of time and tasks.
- Demonstrated customer and people skills.
- Ability to work with team members and with minimal supervision.
