Regional Sales Manager – Power Generation

OverviewA Regional Sales Manager of Power Generation will direct and coordinate domestic sales of power generation equipment, including standby generators, continuous duty generators, portable continuous duty generators, combined heat and power generators, switch gear, transfer switches, and ancillary power generation equipment throughout the Southwest Region.
The role collaborates with the GM Sales of Power Generation, GM Sales of Power Systems, National Sales Manager of Power Generation Service, and the Manager of Engineering and Sales Support to build a satisfied and loyal customer base, establish effective market entry paths, and obtain strong OEM partner support. The position reports to the Vice President of Business Development, Sales and Marketing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develop financial goals aligned with company needs and create strategies and tactics to achieve them.
- Monitor plan achievement throughout the year, taking corrective action as needed to meet financial objectives.
- Prepare and manage OEM‑required business plans, monitoring their progress and adjusting strategies accordingly.
- Set individual financial targets for all sales personnel, assist in the development of game‑plans to reach these goals, and interview, hire, and review team members.
- Coach and communicate regularly with the team, providing technical and customer support and facilitating their sales technique development.
- Evaluate team performance, assist in customer calls, and negotiate or close deals when necessary.
- Foster an environment where team members are self‑motivated to achieve goals and develop their capabilities.
- Identify training needs and organize in‑house or external programs to maximize team performance.
- Designate efficiencies and cost controls within the sales process, approving significant expenses and managing the expense budget.
- Review monthly operating results versus forecasts, identify improvement areas, and report findings—including new business wins and losses—to the VP of Business Development.
- Manage and approve sales commissions for all sales team personnel.
- Ensure adoption of CRM tools and OEM business portal systems.
- Evaluate and resolve escalated customer, employee, or OEM issues, ensuring timely outcomes.
- Identify strategic growth opportunities such as territory expansion, new OEM product lines, or potential acquisitions.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum five years of field experience in diesel engines, electrical mechanics, and generators.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
