Generation Plant Security Officer

Uniformed, armed security officer responsible for providing security for personnel and property at E.C. Gaston Steam Plant in Wilsonville, AL.

• Controls access to plant site
• Monitors and operates electronic surveillance equipment
• Monitors materials and equipment delivered to and removed from plant site
• Provides armed security service to plant site
• Patrols plant site on foot and in vehicle
• Participation in Medical First Responder Emergency Response Teams preferred, but not mandatory at all Generation sites
• Attend plant functions and make presentations as needed

Experience:

• REQUIRED minimum three (3) years law enforcement or military police or private/industrial security experience
• REQUIRED ability to use and maintain a firearm and pass annual mandatory qualifying tests
• REQUIRED maintain and possess a valid Alabama State pistol permit.
• Basic computer knowledge using Windows based systems including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and other systems
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Good problem-solving skills and decision-making skills
• Ability to learn and enforce plant security policies and procedures
• Ability to obtain a pistol permit
• Ability to pass annual firearm qualifications
• Ability to direct and control vehicle and pedestrian traffic
• Ability to prioritize and perform security work in the absence of direct supervision
• Ability to work rotating off day shifts, nights, days, weekends, holidays, during inclement weather and overtime
• Ability to operate office equipment
• Ability to wear and maintain Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
• Must possess a valid driver license and operate a motor vehicle in various conditions
• Must pass background investigation, physical, drug and alcohol test and required psychological screening
• Ability to perform physical activity including, but not limited to, running, walking and/or lifting
• Ability to function as a team member and individual in low to high stress situations

• Night shift position
• Patrol and inspect company property to protect against fire, theft, vandalism and other illegal activity.
• Demonstrated ability to handle, interpersonal confrontations and hostile situations without instruction or supervision.
• Respond to calls for service.
• Conduct preliminary investigations and write detailed incident reports, shift reports, etc.
• Review written documents of others for completeness and accuracy.
• Proficiently operate electronic security equipment.
• Effectively and efficiently perform assigned duties and responsibilities with minimum supervision.
• Coordinate special projects, events, and initiatives.
• Ability to safely and proficiently use and maintain firearms; ability to safely and proficiently qualify annually with firearms.
• Enforce policies and procedures; conduct patrols of assigned areas or direct others to do so.
