As a Security Officer Armed Driver Patrol Unit in Birmingham, AL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as utilities. This part‑time role allows you to build a schedule that works for you. You will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to deter incidents, and support daily operations with strong customer service and communication.

This is a driving and armed post.

Day Time:
Friday 3:45 PM – 11:45 PM
Saturday 3:45 PM – 11:45 PM

• Provide customer service to employees, visitors, and/or contractors by carrying out security‑related procedures, location‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a utilities location.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations calmly, document observations, and communicate with site contacts and public emergency responders as needed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout buildings, grounds, access points, and perimeter areas to help identify unusual activity, maintenance concerns, and unauthorized access attempts.
• Monitor entrances, gates, and restricted areas while verifying credentials, controlling access, and reporting security‑related concerns according to post orders for an armed patrol assignment.
• Maintain readiness to perform armed post duties in compliance with Allied Universal guidelines, applicable laws, and site procedures, using sound judgment during routine activities and emergency situations.

• A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
• A concealed carry weapons permit is required.
• At least 1 year of security‑related experience.
• An armed guard card or license is required.
• Minimum age 21 years for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
• Applicants may be considered with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• Applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Participation in industry‑specific security training programs.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and may be required prior to employment.
