Responsibilities
  • Initiate or perform FBI indices checks, arrest record checks and related investigative tasks to obtain identifying information for cases.
  • Coordinate the submission of investigative findings.
  • Review and critically analyze investigative reports and field correspondence for conformance to administrative requirements, ensuring adequacy and compliance with FBI regulations and policies.
  • Identify inadequacies and communicate additional specific instructions or leads to the field, recommending additional investigation or termination of ineffective methods.
  • Prepare and submit recommendations for adjudication of security clearances and access authorizations for appropriate units.
  • Draft written or verbal responses recommending approval, denial or revocation of clearance or access authorizations.
  • Prepare outgoing communications to transmit recommendations with supporting analysis and data.
  • Participate in formulating, preparing and directing new or revised rules, regulations, guidelines, processes and procedures for personnel security programs.
  • Provide recommendations and feedback to the Security Officer or FBI Headquarters to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Ensure personnel are informed of potential security risks and vulnerabilities related to their clearance levels.
  • Debrief individuals as necessary and conduct security briefings covering Security Awareness and Hostile Threat.
  • Modify security briefings based on evolving issues and security requirements.
  • Assist in resolving security issues for current employees and provide guidance on security programs to field office personnel, including agents.
  • Monitor new methods for passing and affirming clearances and stay current with SCI, FIS, EOs and DOJ Orders.
  • Engage internal and external customers to integrate the assigned program and utilize threat intelligence to adjust procedures.
  • Perform all duties at the level of a Level III analyst as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Active Top Secret U.S. Government clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
  • Seven (7) years of experience in personnel security investigation or investigative analysis.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with seven (7) years of experience or Associate’s Degree with nine (9) years of experience.
  • At least two (2) years of experience developing and writing Reports of Investigation that form the basis for adjudication records.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Internet research and use of federal LE and IC IT systems for automated record checks.
  • Experience with commercial and federal database searches related to personnel security matters.
  • Ability to update and distribute personnel security documentation files and secure program data.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including interview and brief‑ing capabilities.
  • Understanding of Federal Investigative Standards (FIS), Security Executive Agent Directives (SEAD), Executive Orders (EO), U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (US CFR) and related security guidelines.
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in any field of study.
  • In‑depth knowledge of DOJ and FBI regulations for the personnel security process.
  • Experience conducting interviews and security briefings, preparing analyses and recommendations.
  • Previous experience in a security leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of security disciplines and investigative guidelines (FIS, SEAD, EO, US CFR).
Physical Demands

Occasional standing, walking, handling objects, writing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying up to 15 pounds.

Work Environment

Traditional office environment.

Compensation

$92,286.64 – $97,100.53 annually. The range reflects a good‑faith estimate and actual compensation may vary based on responsibilities, experience and other factors.
