The YWCA Central Alabama Security Services Department is actively seeking a committed Security Officer to play a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of our facilities. In this position, you will be responsible for patrolling YWCA-owned buildings, parking lots, and other premises, ensuring that all areas remain secure, hazard-free, and devoid of suspicious or unauthorized individuals.
As a key member of our team, you will conduct thorough patrols of assigned areas, with a particular focus on identifying and addressing problem zones. Your helpful nature will shine as you assist visitors by providing clear directions and information about various departments within the YWCA Organization.

EssentialFunctions
- Own the responsibility for the safety and security of designated areas during your scheduled shifts.
- Vigilantly monitor surveillance cameras to ensure the highest level of security across the premises.
- Swiftly respond to alarms and any safety or security threats that arise on‑site.
- Proactively patrol and monitor hallways, stairwells, and public or unsupervised areas to guarantee the well‑being of residents and staff.
- Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify any irregularities or unauthorized individuals.
- Spot potential security risks and take decisive action to address them.
- Secure assistance in complex situations by promptly activating alarms or making necessary phone calls. Safeguard the community by escalating emergencies or encounters with individuals carrying weapons to law enforcement as needed, maintaining strong communication with them regarding suspected criminal activity.
- Keep housing staff informed of any emergencies or unusual situations that could pose a threat to residents.
- Collaborate with maintenance staff to secure areas during maintenance emergencies effectively.
- Minimize loss and damage by reporting irregularities and firmly informing violators about policies and procedures regarding their behavior on the premises.
- Confidently advise trespassers to leave the premises and communicate the involvement of law enforcement when necessary.
- Compile thorough written reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety hazards, and fire risks, ensuring timely documentation for all security‑related occurrences.
- Exemplify ethical and professional behavior at all times while engaging with staff, visitors, residents, or community members.
- Promote cooperation, collaboration, and flexibility while working alongside others to enhance the community's overall safety.
