Greystone Golf & Country Club is seeking an experienced and service-minded Director of Security to lead the safety and security of one of Birmingham's premier private communities. This is an opportunity to build and lead an in-house security operation that protects our residents, club members, guests, employees, vendors, and Club assets while delivering the exceptional hospitality that defines the Greystone experience.

As Director of Security, you will provide direction and leadership for gate operations, patrol services, emergency preparedness, and community safety initiatives. Working closely with Club leadership, the Director of Community Management, and the HOA Administrator, you will shape security programs, mentor a high-performing team, and foster a culture where professionalism, service, and safety go hand in hand. Essential Functions:

• Directs and oversees all daily security operations, including Gate Guards and Patrol Security Officers.
• Recruits, trains, coaches, schedules, and evaluates security personnel while fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and exceptional service.
• Develops, implements, and continuously improves security policies, standard operating procedures, and emergency response plans.
• Ensures consistent enforcement of community access control procedures, visitor management protocols, traffic regulations, and parking policies.
• Works with the Director of Community Management and HOA Administrator to implement Board directives, address resident concerns, and support community initiatives.
• Collaborates with Club leadership to develop security plans for tournaments, member events, weddings, and other special functions.
• Maintains oversight of the community visitor management platform, access control systems, surveillance cameras, gate equipment, and other security technologies.
• Analyzes security trends, incidents, and community concerns to recommend operational improvements and risk mitigation strategies.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with local law enforcement, fire departments, emergency responders, and other public safety agencies.
• Investigates security incidents, prepares comprehensive reports, and recommends corrective actions when appropriate.
• Oversees patrol operations, ensuring complete property coverage, checkpoint compliance, rapid response standards, and effective crime deterrence.
• Monitors department budgets, equipment, fleet maintenance, uniforms, and security-related capital projects.
• Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, HOA governing documents, Club policies, and safety standards.
• Serves as the department leader during emergencies and coordinates security responses for incidents affecting the community or Club.
• Prepares reports and presentations for senior leadership, HOA management, and the Board of Directors regarding security operations, trends, and recommendations. Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Business Administration, Public Safety, or a related field preferred; equivalent leadership experience may be considered.
• Three or more years of progressively responsible security, law enforcement, military, or public safety leadership experience.
• Previous experience managing security personnel and departmental operations.
• Strong knowledge of physical security, access control, emergency management, investigations, and risk assessment.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
• Proficiency with computer systems, security technology, reporting software, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to successfully complete required background checks and drug screening.
• Ability to drive a patrol vehicle for extended periods.
• Ability to walk community property, conduct inspections, and respond to incidents throughout the campus.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs as operational needs require.
