* Key Responsibilities:

* Does bench repair work on electrical equipment.

* Be able to read difficult electrical schematics and blueprints and able to document and edit errors and inconsistencies.

* Be able to properly use a burning/welding torch, be able to electric arc weld, and braze.

* Makes adaptations as necessary on electrical equipment to make it work consistent with the company's requirements.

* Be able to determine sources of electrical trouble and correct them.

* Bends and installs conduit, fittings, enclosures, switches, disconnects, etc. Properly size and pulls wire consistent with national and local codes. Follows through until equipment is operating satisfactorily.

* Must have thorough working knowledge of electricity, electrical circuits and electrical equipment particularly as they apply to shop equipment operations. Able to apply this knowledge to make necessary repairs safely and efficiently.

* Documents the procedures and calibrations performed on instrumentation and equipment to meet current ISO requirements.

* Utilizes technical knowledge to assure the accuracy of recorded data for parts and equipment; locates and identifies missing data and enters all information into maintained records.

* Performs necessary fieldwork to obtain motor and equipment information and other data necessary to create a permanent record.

* Provides training and instruction to the Apprentice(s) and to other wage jobs in their work area/department as instructed by supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Must have successfully completed an apprentice program in an electrician craft classification and must have met the legal requirements of the City, State, or National Codes applicable to the craft electrician trade. OR Must have met the legal requirements of the City, State, or National Codes applicable to the craft electrician trade with two years of work experience as a journeyman electrician.

OR Must have successfully completed a trainee or apprentice program in an electrical craft classification with 8,000 hours electrical experience. Proof of experience is required. Applicants who have not met the legal requirements of the City, State, or National Codes applicable to the craft electrician trade will progress toward craft rate pay based on the rate and progression policies of AMERICAN.

OR Applicants who have not successfully completed a trainee program in an electrical craft classification with four (4) years of well-rounded experience will be considered if they have two (2) or more years of well-rounded electrical experience (i.e., electrical troubleshooting and repairs) in a heavy industrial environment and are willing to sign an agreement to successfully complete a modified curriculum approved by the department head.

OR Applicants who have successfully completed a trainee or certification program with no experience will be considered if they are willing to sign an agreement to successfully complete a modified curriculum approved by the department head.

* Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.

* Must be able to climb and work from high places.

* Must be able to read and interpret complex specifications for projects, such as electrical schematics and technical drawings.

* Must meet the physical requirements for safe operation of mobile equipment as administered by the Company.
