Description

The Maintenance Mechanic maintains and performs a wide variety of repairs on buildings, systems, and equipment to include electrical, mechanical, and plumbing.
Job Duties

• Erect and work from ladders, scaffolds, swing stages, boom trucks and similar devices.
• Inspect buildings, systems, grounds, and equipment to ensure safe, operational conditions.
• Maintain, repair, and install electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment and fixtures in campus building.
• Assist in moving and storage operations of physical plant equipment, furniture, and supplies.
• Read, interpret, and follow instructions and operation manuals.
• Operate a variety of vehicles and hand and power tools.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in general maintenance with similar facilities.
• Possess a current, valid driver's license in the State of Alabama.
• Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to verbally communicate technical information.
• Knowledge of methods, occupational hazards, and safety precautions of the trade.
• Ability to exercise tact and discretion with other employees, customers, and the public, including reasonable standards of personal appearance.
