Position Overview
This is skilled, moderately difficult work in the inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of a variety of vehicular and construction equipment.

City of Mobile. Starting Salary: $42,572.

Minimum Qualification RequirementsGraduation from a standard senior high school, or successful completion of the GED test. Completion of an apprenticeship or trade school program in automotive or diesel repair, and a minimum of one year of journeyman level experience in maintenance and repair in one of the following areas: (1) automotive/light truck/miscellaneous; (2) medium/heavy truck; or (3) construction equipment. Two years of experience as a Vehicular/Equipment Mechanic I or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
Special RequirementsMust possess a commercial driver's license or a valid driver’s license from the state of residence. All jurisdictions except Mobile County Health Department must obtain a commercial driver's license with appropriate endorsements, including an air brake endorsement, prior to completion of the six‑month working test period. May be required to work overtime.
