Diesel Technician​/Mechanic III - Entry Level

In this role you will perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on the newest and best maintained fleet of vehicles in the industry, helping customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road.

Schedule:

2nd shift, Tuesday–Saturday, 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm.

• Make sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers.
• Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
• Perform preventative maintenance repairs—such as replacing or rotating tires, lubricating and replacing vehicle components, electrical system repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engine vehicles.
• Partner with your manager to learn new skills using Penske’s technician training and hands‑on coaching.
• Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

• Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods of time.
• Use hands routinely to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, and operate required tools or controls.
• Work safely at heights using ladders and elevated working platforms.
• Work safely in all weather conditions.
• See and hear to navigate the work environment safely.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg); push/pull truck tires that exceed 100 lbs.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and 1–2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to solve problems and a comfort using tools.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
• Basic computer skills.
• Understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management.
• Perform all work adhering to DOT, OSHA and Penske safety and maintenance policies, including correct selection and use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding and established best safety practice.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Meet DOT and driver qualification file requirements (annual MVR check, DOT Physical, Safety Performance History records, drug screening for CDL holders, etc.).
• Willingness to work the required schedule, location and travel within a near geography for training, complete the Penske employment application, submit to background screening, and pass a drug screen and physical as required.
• Ability to work in constant state of alertness and safety; accept responsibility for own safety and that of others.
