Job Highlights

The Electrician Senior plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing electrical systems in high-risk, high-visibility areas such as ICUs, surgical suites, and other essential hospital spaces. This position supports patient safety and uninterrupted care by ensuring electrical systems remain reliable, compliant, and operational at all times.

Job Description
  • Make critical decisions regarding the repair, maintenance, and operation of electrical systems in high-risk areas such as ICUs and surgical suites.
  • Ensure compliance with safety codes, troubleshoot complex electrical failures, prioritize urgent repairs to minimize disruptions to patient care, and coordinate with hospital leadership and contractors for system upgrades and preventive maintenance.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED and six (6) years of related experience required.
  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Systems, Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • State of Alabama (or reciprocal state) MC or Journeyman license; NICET II; and City of Birmingham Journeyman license or MC required.
  • ASHE Health Care Physical Environment Worker Certification required within six months of employment.
  • Valid driver's license issued in the United States, at least 21 years of age, and at least 3 years of driving experience. Must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and meet University underwriting guidelines for driving vehicles in the performance of University business.
