Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in ensuring that all production equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently. This position focuses on performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, installing new process equipment, and supporting continuous improvement of maintenance standards and procedures within an industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment while following standard work methods and safe work practices to ensure production remains efficient and safe.
- Conduct routine and corrective repairs on equipment as needed, addressing mechanical and electrical issues promptly.
- Install new process and production equipment, including any required infrastructure, in accordance with engineering specifications and work instructions.
- Train new employees in maintenance processes and procedures, ensuring they understand and follow established standards.
- Provide leadership in safe work practices and procedures, serving as an example for the maintenance and production teams.
- Demonstrate and uphold 5S standards to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow verbal and written instructions from leadership and carry out maintenance tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Support the development and training of other team members in maintenance standards and procedures.
- Perform higher-level maintenance duties when required in the absence of designated leadership.
- Control equipment downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and schedules.
- Ensure proper operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
- Use diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance according to the PM schedule and provide feedback when schedule adjustments may be needed.
- Locate sources of mechanical and electrical problems by observing and listening to equipment in operation and identifying abnormal conditions.
- Prepare maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends related to equipment performance and maintenance activities.
- Read and interpret work instructions and execute tasks accurately according to those instructions.
- Carry out all other maintenance-related duties as assigned to support safe and efficient production operations.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial equipment, including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machinery.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical systems in an industrial environment.
- Ability to read and interpret diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications.
- Demonstrated capability to follow and promote safe work practices and procedures.
- Experience using and maintaining 5S standards to keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions and complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Competence in preparing maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing maintenance and equipment performance data.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with production workers and inform them of preventive maintenance techniques and schedules.
- Ability to train and mentor new employees and other team members on maintenance processes, standards, and procedures.
- Hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude suitable for working with industrial machinery and equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience installing new production equipment and associated infrastructure in an industrial setting.
- Experience in industrial maintenance, maintenance technician roles, or similar positions.
- Comfort working with pneumatic tools and conveyor systems.
- Ability to assume expanded responsibilities and perform higher-level maintenance duties when leadership is unavailable.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving equipment issues.
- Commitment to continuous improvement in maintenance practices and preventive maintenance scheduling.
