Birmingham, Alabama
A growing construction organization is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Superintendent to lead field operations and ensure HVAC and sheet metal projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
What You'll Do- Supervise sheet metal crews and subcontractors on active construction projects.
- Coordinate daily field activities, manpower, materials, equipment, and installation schedules.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and project schedules.
- Oversee HVAC ductwork and sheet metal installation from layout through completion.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, General Contractors, other mechanical trades, and subcontractors.
- Monitor installation quality, productivity, and jobsite safety.
- Plan upcoming work and coordinate manpower and material requirements.
- Identify and resolve field issues to keep projects moving forward.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on field progress.
- Ensure work is completed according to plans, specifications, applicable codes, and company quality standards.
- 5–7 years of sheet metal/HVAC construction experience as a Foreman or Journeyman,
OR 1–3 years of experience as a Sheet Metal Superintendent
. - Strong commercial, industrial, institutional, or large-scale HVAC construction experience.
- Hands-on knowledge of HVAC ductwork and sheet metal installation.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Strong crew leadership and field-management skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple trades and project activities.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and jobsite safety.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- No Journeyman license required.
- $35–$45 per hour
, depending on experience - Opportunity to join an established and growing construction team
