We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Field Service Technician to join our growing team in the Birmingham, Alabama region. This position is ideal for someone with a strong industrial instrumentation and electrical background who enjoys problem-solving, working directly with customers, and traveling to a variety of industrial facilities.

The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial instrumentation and control systems. Primary areas of focus include process analyzers, gas detection systems, refractometers, flow measurement, pressure, temperature, level instrumentation, and related electrical control systems.

This role requires frequent travel throughout Alabama and the Southeast region, with occasional overnight travel as needed to support customer projects and service requirements.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Install, commission, calibrate, and troubleshoot industrial instrumentation and control systems
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on process measurement devices, including pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analytical instruments
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, control panels, field wiring, power distribution systems, and instrumentation loops
  • Diagnose and repair issues associated with process analyzers, gas detection systems, refractometers, flow meters, and tank gauging equipment
  • Conduct loop checks, startup assistance, and commissioning activities for new installations and modernization projects
  • Configure and verify communication protocols including HART, Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, and other industrial networks
  • Perform functional testing and inspections to ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements
  • Provide on-site technical support and recommendations to customers regarding equipment operation, maintenance, and reliability improvements
  • Create detailed service reports documenting work performed, findings, corrective actions, and recommendations
  • Train customers on equipment operation, maintenance practices, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety and follow all applicable company, customer, and regulatory requirements
  • Travel to customer facilities throughout Alabama and surrounding states to support service calls, shutdowns, startups, and scheduled maintenance activities
Skills You'll Need
  • Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Electronics, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial instrumentation, electrical maintenance, controls, or field service
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience reading wiring diagrams, loop drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics
  • Experience calibrating and troubleshooting pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analytical instrumentation
  • Familiarity with PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems
  • Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as HART, Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet-based networks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex process and control system issues in industrial environments
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to travel frequently and work safely in a variety of industrial environments, including refineries, chemical plants, terminals, manufacturing facilities, and utilities
