Software Manager - Mobile

Position Overview

As a Software Manager within PNC's Retail Tech organization, you will oversee mobile solution development across iOS and Android in Pittsburgh, PA or Birmingham, AL.

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or related field
• 7+ years of experience in software product development and delivery using languages and frameworks such as Objective C, Swift, Kotlin, Java
• Proficiency with XCode/iOS/Objective‑C/Swift development OR Java/Android Studio/Android SDK/3rd Party SDK development
• 1+ years of leading a team
• Understanding of the App Development and Deployment cycles
• Strong problem‑solving skills
• Expert in breaking down problems and estimating time for development tasks
• Understanding of Microservices — Open Shift Platform/APIGEE (Nice to have)
• Experience with CICD, Jenkins pipelines (Nice to have)
• Experience with Micron (Nice to have)

• Oversee design, development and delivery of mobile solutions across iOS and Android
• Pursue continuous improvement in development processes, standards and quality
• Coach, mentor and lead multiple groups of software engineers
• Work with product owners across businesses to understand market needs and vision
• Quickly define and deliver working software prototypes
• Communicate effectively with immediate team and leadership, ensuring consistent messages and clear understanding of business direction, strategy and results
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams such as architecture, backend integration, visual design, UX teams, QA, etc.
• Manage development projects, teams and application support functions
• Oversee multiple application programming and analysis projects which include development, installation and maintenance of application programs
• Monitor and maintain adherence and compliance to quality standards on an ongoing basis
• Maximize staff contribution through professional growth and development, to increase teamwork and more effectively meet business needs

• Seven or more years of industry‑relevant experience, with at least three years of prior management experience
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience)
• Strong technical knowledge in Android, Swift, Java, Kotlin and related ecosystems
• Experience in application development, product development, process improvements and release management
• Demonstrated ability to provide customer‑focused solutions and manage risk
• Proficient in working with microservices, CI/CD pipelines and deployment platforms
