Our client is a Birmingham-based AI technology company serving physician practices nationwide, deploying AI agents that handle inbound patient calls for appointment scheduling, call routing, and routine requests. Their platform integrates directly with EHR, practice management, and telephony systems and has processed millions of patient interactions across thousands of providers. The Senior Integration Engineer will design and build the integrations that connect the platform to the practice's systems, including EHRs, practice management software, and telephony, reliably, at scale, and in full compliance with healthcare data requirements.
This is high-leverage work where every integration shipped unlocks a new category of practices the company can serve.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain integrations with EHR/PM systems including Epic, Oracle Health (Cerner), athenahealth, Next Gen, and others, as well as telephony/SIP and CRM systems
- Develop and maintain API, HL7, and FHIR interfaces and ensure their health in production
- Lead integration discovery and design sessions directly with client IT teams
- Troubleshoot and resolve production interface issues with urgency
- Uphold data security, privacy, and HIPAA compliance across all integration work
- Document APIs, workflows, and runbooks for internal teams and clients
Skills & Requirements
- 5+ years in integration or interoperability engineering
- Hands-on API, HL7, and FHIR experience with major EHR/PM systems
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Type Script
- Working knowledge of healthcare data security and compliance requirements, including HIPAA
- Strong client-facing communication skills; comfortable working directly with practice IT teams
- Preferred: telephony/SIP/CCaaS integration experience
- Preferred: experience at a healthcare AI or digital health company
