Position: Fixed Wing Pilot - SIC
Location: Birmingham, AL
Aircraft: Hawker 800
Schedule: 8 Days On and 6 Days Off
Annual Salary Range: $96,393 - $118,506
Incentives Included:
- Annual scaled salary increases based on merit to a maximum of 150,826.
- Sign-On Bonus: 15,000 (Must Complete Training and Check Ride).
- Retention Bonus: 40,000 (There is a 6 Month Waiting period; this is a 3 Year Program).
- Relocation Assistance:
Up to 5,000.
The Second in Command (SIC) is designated as the SIC for a flight or series of flights in accordance with FAR Part 135. The SIC is responsible for the safe execution of flight duties to which they are assigned and supports the PIC in the operation of the aircraft, exercising Operational Control on the Tier 2 level as described in the General Operations Manual.
The SIC must meet minimum qualifications as specified by FAR Part 135.245.
The fixed wing pilot schedules are a rotating 8 days on followed by 6 days off duty assignment. While on duty, pilots serve a 12-hour shift (or up to the maximum allowed under Part 135 if on mission) from home and must be able to meet the program’s call-out time to meet the planned launch time of a trip. Pilot shift assignments consist of either a day or a night duty period and are scheduled the month prior by the Base Lead Pilot to provide sufficient opportunity to prepare rest.
Pilots can expect to serve the same duty period during their assigned 8 days on shift and then rotate to the next duty period during the next 8-day shift. Changes to duty periods within an 8-day shift are discouraged but can occur depending on local needs at the Base.
Required Qualifications
- Must reside in, or be willing to relocate to, Birmingham, AL.
- Must hold, or be able to attain, HS-125-800 PIC Type Rating.
- Hold, or be eligible to hold, an FAA ATP certificate.
- 1500 Total Time Airplane Hours.
- 250 hours Multi-Engine Airplane Hours.
- 250 PIC Airplane hours.
- Must hold or be able to attain a First-Class Medical Certificate.
- Must be able to maintain First Class Privileges.
- Must hold valid US Passport.
- Must be eligible to hold Chinese "C" class visa.
- Complies with the duties and responsibilities contained within the Air Med International general operating manual.
- Ensures the aircraft is ready for mission in coordination with Air Med Dispatch team.
- Complies with all domestic and international guidance in accordance with applicable FARs, ICAO Annexes and individual AIPs.
- Ensures that all pertinent information about flight operations is disseminated through the operational control structure.
- Maintains a professional demeanor and environmental awareness at all times.
- Attends meetings when required and may attend training and check-flights outside of normal duty shifts.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or Chief Pilot.
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent is desired.
- Required to work in outside weather conditions.
- Must be able to work night, day, and overnight shifts as assigned.
- International travel is required.
- May need to de-ice the plane, assist with towing the aircraft and maneuvering in and out of the hangar, prep the plane for flight.
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, balance, sit, crouch, kneel, or crawl unassisted for extended periods of time.
- May assist with loading patients and lift and/or move up to 150 pounds cumulatively with assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
