Driver Class A​/Hazmat​/Tanker

Hepaco a Clean Harbors company in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Class A CDL Driver / Hazmat & Tanker to operate a variety of heavy and light duty trucks and work equipment at customer sites, including vacuum trucks, cuscos, guzzlers, and roll offs. The role involves both driving and non‑driving duties related to hazardous waste clean‑up.

Note:

This position requires new hires to attend a two‑week Academy (paid) training which may be held out of state. All expenses are covered by the company.

• Ensure health and safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes.
• Operate commercial trucks and assist field laborers as needed.
• Operate a variety of Class A trucks.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Perform manual labor on site to fulfill customer needs.
• Properly placard vehicles to meet company and DOT requirements.
• Maintain daily logs, timesheets, and reports.
• Follow all local, state (provincial), and federal compliance regulations.
• Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT and other requirements.
• Observe all corporate environmental health and safety guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week.
• Conduct site‑remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.

• Valid Class A CDL.
• Ability to obtain Hazmat and Tanker endorsement within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to use various mobile devices.
• Ability to perform physical functions required by the job.
• Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical exam.
• Meet facial hair standards for respirator use per OSHA’s Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.34.

• Commercial driver experience.
• Hazmat and Tanker endorsement.
• Previous Hazmat experience.
• Ability to operate a manual transmission.
• Previous manual labor experience.
