Outbound Freight Handler

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight onto and off equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, drum trucks, roller trailers and other available equipment.
• Use safe lifting techniques and select the proper freight handling equipment to ensure safe loading and unloading.
• Prepare, sweep, inspect and clean trailers before loading freight.
• Weigh and dimension shipments to ensure proper classification, freight rating and safe handling.
• Plan cube utilization and proper weight distribution when loading freight.
• Count and inspect the condition of freight, documenting any shortages or damage.
• Review freight bills and manifests for special instructions, existing exceptions, destination codes, weight distribution on headloads, and verify that headloads match the freight bills.
• Verify hazardous material product descriptions, identify discrepancies in paperwork and confirm proper placarding.
• Block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to satisfactorily pass a background check and an alcohol and drug test.
• Prior experience as a forklift operator, dock or warehouse worker, or material handler is preferred.
• Previous forklift certification is a plus.

Pay: $29.70–$34.50 per hour. Full‑time position. Second shift.
