Warehouse Operative​/Driver

We are looking to recruit a Warehouse Operative/Driver to join our busy, dedicated branch based in Birmingham.

To fulfil this role, you will have a good standard of education including maths and English, and proven experience of dealing with customers and working within a driver capacity (up to 3.5 tonne vehicle).

• Maintain a smart appearance and wear the provided uniform, providing a professional customer‑first attitude with all customers and branches.
• Handle fragile packages and parcels with care and adhere to manual‑handling regulations, including heavy lifting such as gas cylinders.
• Communicate with customers by phone to update them on delivery times and changes.
• Assist in the warehouse to take delivery of goods, unloading, sorting, stacking and storage.
• Process and pick order requests for stock items for customer collection and/or delivery.
• Check and pack orders for both internal and external customers.
• Adhere to all health and safety requirements, including wearing appropriate PPE.
• Undertake all relevant training for the role.
• Keep the warehouse clean and tidy to ensure a safe working environment.
• Assist in other warehouse functions and processes where required.
• Plan efficient delivery routes throughout Birmingham and surrounding areas, ensuring goods are delivered on time and in good condition.
• Comply with health and safety requirements and ensure your vehicle is roadworthy before every journey, through daily vehicle checks.
• Drive safely and follow all driving laws and regulations.
• Keep your designated vehicle clean and tidy, inside and out.
• Maintain communication with management regarding any changes to delivery, route or schedule.
• Keep accurate records of deliveries and customer authorisation, ensuring all documentation is submitted on time.
• Properly use and monitor delivery equipment.

• Good standard of education, including maths and English.
• Proven experience dealing with customers and driving commercially up to a 3.5‑tonne vehicle.
• Full UK driving licence required.
• Forklift licence advantageous; training can be provided.
• Willingness to participate in the company out‑of‑hours standby service on a rostered basis, including coverage over bank and statutory holidays.
