Position: Part-Time Seasonal Power Equipment Operator, 1st Shift - Birmingham, AL - $18.00

Warehouse Equipment Operator – Part-Time Seasonal – 1st Shift

Hours:

Monday through Friday 6:00am to 3:30pm.

Hourly Rate: $18.00.

Associates with the title of Power Equipment Operator must demonstrate proficiency and meet all productivity and quality requirements for the following duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Operate battery‐operated and/or gas‑powered equipment (other than motorized pallet jacks), such as forklifts, stock pickers, wave work‑assist vehicles, sit‑down and stand‑up counterbalanced trucks, and reach trucks, to transport product to and from inventory storage locations within the facility.
  • Follow all power equipment rules and regulations, including OSHA and any regulatory agency policies.
  • Use all personal protective safety equipment, including lanyards and harnesses, at all times when operating equipment.
  • Adhere to facility safety rules and regulations at all times.
  • Perform all scanner functions required for the position, including cycle counts, replenishment, item inquiry, and inventory put‑away.
  • Ensure all product is stacked neatly and safely when moved via power equipment and when stored in racks or staging locations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory movement at all times.
  • Inspect and assist with equipment maintenance as required; report any unsafe conditions to management.
  • Handle all merchandise with care, avoiding damage, bending, or tearing.
  • Participate in Physical Inventory and Customer Appreciation Warehouse Sale events.
  • Consistently meet minimum required production, accuracy, or quality standards for the work performed.
  • Assist in processing returned book fairs by unpacking metal cases, boxes, and displays with book and non‑book product, following corporate process and procedure while meeting productivity and quality standards.
  • Assist in picking and packing customer reorders when required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times.
  • Perform seasonal inventory production‑line resets individually and in partnership with coworkers.
  • Assist in loading and unloading trucks, with or without mechanical devices, as needed.
  • Utilize proper techniques for lifting, packing, and handling heavy objects.
  • Accurately and timely complete Labor Data Collection Cards according to company standards.
  • Maintain attendance and punctuality as required by the assigned work schedule and company standards.
  • Maintain a courteous and positive relationship with all coworkers and customers.
  • Comply with drug and alcohol‑free policy.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate preferred.
  • Must be trained and licensed to operate power equipment.
  • For non‑internal promotions, candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of power equipment operation experience.
  • Successfully complete a forklift training program.
  • Demonstrate basic product scanner proficiency with minimal errors.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to get along with coworkers.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, basic math skills, and ability to read documents in English.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Physical Demands
  • Lift boxes weighing up to 50lbs occasionally on a daily basis.
  • Stand, reach above and below the shoulders, squat, bend, and kneel as necessary.
  • Tolerate work in a non‑air‑conditioned environment.
  • Successfully complete required training and maintain certification on assigned powered equipment.
  • Pass initial and all future random drug screens, and be drug‑free.
  • Wear PPE correctly when required.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear frequently.
  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl regularly.
  • Sit and occasionally climb or balance as required.
  • Have adequate vision, including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
