Accounting Manager

A great UHY client is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will have strong Quick Books experience, hands‑on month‑end close experience, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, regulated environment.

The Accounting Manager role is an onsite position located in the Birmingham, Michigan area. This is a full‑time, direct hire opportunity.

• Own and perform the full monthly accounting close process independently.
• Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements, including Balance Sheet, P&L, and Cash Flow as applicable.
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
• Prepare and post journal entries and supporting schedules.
• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Investigate variances and provide clear financial insights to leadership.
• Prepare and distribute daily flash cash reports and monitor cash balances.
• Support cash forecasting and provide cash visibility to senior leadership.
• Maintain accurate and timely accounting records within Quick Books.
• Ensure all financial transactions, including AR, AP, and payroll (transitioning over time), are properly recorded.
• Support audit and tax preparation requests and maintain required documentation and schedules.
• Collaborate closely with operations and leadership teams on financial reporting and process improvements.
• Coordinate with team members responsible for payroll and AP/AR transactional processing.
• Document and improve accounting procedures and internal processes.
• Operate as a hands‑on individual contributor while supporting organizational growth and financial integrity.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting and bookkeeping experience.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Proven experience independently managing full month‑end close, including journal entries and financial statement preparation.
• Strong reconciliation, bookkeeping, and financial reporting skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
• Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Self‑starter with a high level of accountability and ownership.
• Comfortable in a hands‑on, roll‑up‑your‑sleeves environment.
• Positive attitude and adaptability in a growing, team‑oriented organization.
• Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, compounding, or other regulated environments preferred.
• Experience supporting audits or tax preparation preferred.
• Experience working in companies within the $5M–$40M+ revenue range preferred.
