Giffels Webster has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Oakland County office located in Birmingham, Michigan. As a Senior Engineer you will work on high‑profile land development projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life in southeast Michigan.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work independently on various engineering projects and assist a wide variety of client types including architects, developers, property owners and real estate professionals. You will work in a team environment led by a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager on a variety of tasks.

  • Site plan layout
  • Geometrics
  • Grading
  • Pavement design
  • Soil erosion and sediment control
  • Utility (storm sanitary and water) design
  • Stormwater management and green infrastructure design
  • Traffic plans
  • Details
  • Record drawings and specifications
  • Prepare permit applications and cost estimates
  • Attend meetings
  • Conduct field visits
  • Perform construction administration tasks

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Engineering degree from an ABET‑accredited university or equivalent applicable experience.
  • At least 5 years of Civil Engineering experience.
  • Experience using AutoCAD software.
  • Exposure to municipal and/or private development projects.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PE licensure in Michigan (or seeking to obtain).
  • Experience with Civil3D.
  • Experience with water and sanitary design.
  • Experience using WaterCAD or Water Gems.
  • Experience working with MDOT Local Agency Programs.
