A rewarding Early Years role supporting Reception children who need calm, consistent, and nurturing support to thrive.

The role involves supporting several pupils with emerging social communication needs, as well as providing more focused support for a child with an EHCP related to emotional regulation and past trauma.
The school is particularly eager to meet candidates with a strong EYFS background, Early Years qualifications, or previous experience supporting young children with additional needs.

About the Role

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider EYFS team to help pupils feel emotionally secure, confident and ready to learn. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 support for a reception child who has experienced trauma and requires calm, consistent emotional reassurance.
  • Supporting small groups and individual pupils showing early signs of autism, focusing on communication, social interaction and engagement.
  • Using play‑based strategies, visual aids and structured routines to help children access learning.
  • Supporting behaviour through a nurturing, predictable approach grounded in Early Years practice.
  • Assisting with phonics, early literacy, early number work and child‑led activities.
  • Helping maintain a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Experience working in EYFS (Nursery or Reception) is highly desirable.
  • Background supporting children with emotional needs, trauma‑informed approaches, or early autism indicators.
  • Warm, patient and calm, with excellent skills in building trust and positive relationships.
  • Passionate about early childhood development and inclusive practice.
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work collaboratively within a strong Early Years team.
Why Work with Long Term Futures?
  • Long‑term roles offering training, stability, and growth.
  • Weekly pay via our simple digital system.
  • Free CPD, including early autism strategies, trauma‑informed practice, and EYFS pedagogy.
  • Dedicated consultant providing ongoing support and development.
