Neway International are seeking a Senior Practitioner (SP) - 4 Years’ Experience to join our client Birmingham Children’s Trust within the Commissioning & Corporate Parenting service.

Location:

Lifford House.

Hours:

36.5 per week.

About the Client Birmingham Children’s Trust is dedicated to delivering high‑quality services that safeguard and support children, young people, and families across the city.

The Family and Friends Fostering Support Team provides specialist support to connected carers, ensuring children remain safely within their wider family networks wherever possible.

The service is committed to reflective practice, strong supervision, and achieving positive outcomes for children.

The Role The Senior Practitioner will play a key role within the Family and Friends Fostering Support Team 2, providing high‑level practice oversight, supervision, and case management.

This position requires substantial post‑qualifying experience and strong leadership capability, as you will supervise staff and manage a small number of complex cases.

The role demands excellent assessment skills, confident decision‑making, and the ability to support carers and colleagues in navigating complex safeguarding and fostering situations.

Key Responsibilities

Provide professional supervision to team members, ensuring high‑quality practice and adherence to statutory requirements.

Manage a small caseload of complex fostering and connected‑carer cases.

Offer expert guidance, oversight, and decision‑making support to colleagues.

Undertake high‑quality assessments, reports, and reviews in line with fostering regulations and best practice.

Support Family and Friends carers through supervision, advice, and ongoing case management.

Work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners to ensure safe, effective care planning.

Contribute to team development, reflective practice, and service improvement.

Ensure accurate, timely case recording and compliance with all statutory and organisational requirements.

Participate in team meetings, supervision, and training as required.

Uphold Birmingham Children’s Trust values and professional standards.

Candidate Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.

Minimum 4 years’ post‑qualifying experience (essential). Proven supervisory experience (essential). Strong background in fostering, connected‑carer support, or safeguarding.

Experience managing complex cases and providing professional oversight.

Excellent assessment, analytical, and report‑writing skills.

Ability to work confidently within statutory frameworks and organisational policies.

Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team.
