Job Purpose To provide essential support to social workers in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of Birmingham’s most vulnerable children and young people, delivering a high-quality service to children, families, and carers.

Key Responsibilities Casework

Manage an allocated casework role as assigned by the Team Manager or social worker.

Assessments & Interventions

Collect, accurately record, and critically analyse relevant information using management information systems.

Take appropriate action to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.

Provide practical day-to-day support to children and their families as directed.

Partnership Working

Liaise and collaborate with other professionals and agencies to ensure services are joined-up and achieve optimal outcomes for children and young people.

Case Recording & Reporting

Maintain accurate records and reports in line with statutory and organisational requirements.

Communicate effectively with a variety of audiences through written, verbal, and other communication methods.

Development & Accountability

Take personal responsibility for professional development and reflective practice.

Keep up-to-date with legislation, court rules, policies, procedures, and best practice.

Attend team meetings and service reviews, contributing to the team’s outcomes.

Support the Team Manager with additional duties as required.

Supervising Officer:
Team Manager

Level of Supervision:
Work within established guidelines; work subject to regular review and scrutiny by supervisor.

Special Conditions
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks will be undertaken.
