ABOUT US

As part of the Birmingham Forward Steps Partnership, we provide early years and family support for children aged 0–19 (or 25 with SEND). Our Children’s Centres and Family Hubs across Erdington, Hodge Hill, Perry Barr and Sutton Coldfield offer safe, welcoming spaces where families can access support, advice, and activities.

From parenting groups and sensory rooms to health referrals and stay‑and‑play sessions, our experienced teams walk alongside families, helping them build on their strengths and navigate challenges.

We also offer links to childcare, midwifery, and employment support.

Whether face‑to‑face or through our Digital Family Hub, everything we do is driven by compassion, fairness, and a commitment to children’s well‑being.

Join us and help make a difference where it matters most.

ABOUT

THE ROLE

Deliver tailored support for children aged 0–5 with SEND (and their families), using a whole‑family approach that adapts to needs up to age 19. Plan and deliver stay‑and‑play sessions, home visits, and group programmes to promote speech, language, communication, and early learning.

Provide parents with practical strategies and activities to support their child’s development at home.

Work in partnership with health, education, and social care professionals to coordinate support and make effective referrals.

Monitor and record children’s progress, linking learning outcomes to individual needs and family goals.

Promote early literacy, healthy lifestyle choices, and positive parenting through evidence‑based activities and initiatives.

ABOUT YOU

NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning & Development (or equivalent).

  • Ideally with a Level 3 Early Years SENCO qualification or willingness to work towards it.

Experienced in working directly with children under 5 and their families, including those with SEND, in both group and one‑to‑one settings.

Skilled in building trust and strong relationships with parents and carers, empowering them to support their child’s development.

Confident in planning and running engaging sessions that promote inclusion and meet diverse needs.

Knowledgeable about the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), safeguarding, and SEND best practice.
