Are you a passionate and experienced social worker looking to make a significant impact in the lives of vulnerable children and families? Birmingham City Council is seeking a dedicated Senior Practitioner to join our Child Protection Inquiry Team. In this vital role, you will lead assessments and interventions, ensuring the safety and well-being of children will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, providing guidance and support to less experienced staff while driving best practices in child protection.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments of children and families in need of protection.
- Leading case conferences and ensuring effective multi-agency collaboration.
- Providing expert advice and supervision to junior staff and social work students.
- Developing and implementing care plans in accordance with legislation and local policies.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation in compliance with statutory requirements.
To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A recognised social work qualification (e.g., BA in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
- Registration with Social Work England.
- A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in child protection.
- Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and safeguarding practices.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
